The Ocean Collection
This collection by Caitlin Ross Odom is the result of years of gathering sea glass and pottery that has washed up on Hawai'i 's shores. The artist carefully sorts and organizes these recycled treasures to create a balance of color, shape, form and function. Because the artist does not alter these found treasures the result is one, modern and natural style art for wear. Representing unity through diversity, the result is a constant uniqueness and beauty. Artists Technique
The technique the artist beyond designing is known as fabrication. Her hand crafted chains are made from fine silver (.999) which allows her to fuse each link instead of adding solder. This process has a much cleaner look and adds to the uniqueness of each chain. Many of her pieces are also hand forged using a forging hammmer on a steel block. The use of forging gives both the faceted like texture of the silver as well as hardening the metal. Many of her pieces are slightly adjustable to the wearer providing different looks and sizes in one piece. The artist prefers to apply a matte finish to her pieces rather than polishing. The result is a brighter silver with a scratchy surface that can be cleaned w/dish soap, baking soda and a scrub brush.

Hanalei Farmer's Market - every saturday
Caitlin has a booth at the Hanalei Farmer's Market located at the Hanalei Community Center every saturday from 9:00-11:30. Her space is the third crafters booth as you walk into the market. This is a good place to meet with the artist and check out her current works.
